We've found a very nice review on the newly released CDlinux 0.9.6.1 from Desktop Linux Reviews with some very good advices. Well, we got work to do.

This release is a bug-fix release with no new features.
Several bugs have slipped into 0.9.6 in the last minute. And hopefully, we've identified and terminated them all in this release. All 0.9.6 users are encouraged to upgrade to this new version.

This release is a major upgrade. Almost all components are upgraded to their latest stable version, like Linux-2.6.33.2, Xorg-server-1.8.0, Mesa-7.8.1.
Thanks to the open source ATi and Intel drivers, when now have farely good 2D/3D support on almost all ATi and Intel chip based video cards. PAE is also enabled in this release. As a result, we can support up to 64G RAM now. While the downside is that you can't run CDlinux 0.9.6 on older CPUs (5×86, K6, Pentium, etc.) anymore, even the mini edition.

This is yet another maintenance release concentrating on stability and usability. Almost all major packages except X are upgraded to their latest stable versions. 0.9.5 will be the last version using the good, “old” xorg-7.4. In the upcoming 0.9.6, we'll upgrade to the brand new xorg-7.5.
